• Organise settlement times so there is minimal waiting time for the truck and removalists.
• Contact your current provider's to have your electricity, gas, Internet, Foxtel and etc. disconnected and then reconnected at your new home.
• Update your mailing address to your new address.
• Use eskies to transport food items.
• Arrange for pets to be looked after during the removal process to ensure their safety.
• Organise a carton for the items you're moving yourself (such as valuables and medication) aren't mixed up with items the removalists are responsible for.
• If you're doing all the packing yourself, get moving packing materials (such as boxes, paper and tape), and label them clearly.
• Disassemble any large items you won't be using before the move, such as spare beds and cots.
• Arrange for your existing home to be thoroughly cleaned once you've moved out.
• Arrange for your new home to be cleaned prior to moving in.
• Do a final walk through to make sure everything is clean and you haven't left anything behind.
